Lagar de Ventura is located in a peaceful valley just 6 kms north of Velez-Malaga in the Axarquia region, to the east of Malaga and has the unique advantage of feeling remote and secluded yet being within a 10 to 15 minute drive of Beaches, Shops, Supermarkets, Bars, Restaurants and Aquapark etc. in Velez-Malaga and Torre del Mar and in the other direction, the reservoir of Vinuela and the Natural Park at Alcaucin. We are also just a 40 minute Motorway drive from Malaga Airport.

Available for short, holiday lets the house is an ancient Cortijo/Lagar restored and converted for modern living retaining its original charm and character sleeping up to 8 people having 4 double bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, a fully fitted kitchen/dining room, a large comfortable lounge with Satellite TV, home cinema, DVD and CD player.. The dining room opens onto a large open terrace and there is also a covered terrace/Conservatory perfect for eating outside. There is an 8 m X 5 m Swimming pool with a barbeque area and lots of room for sunbathing. All set in an oasis of mature, spectacular tropical gardens packed with interesting plants, some of which are quite rare.

Lagar de Ventura is most definitely not a holiday “villa” nor is it on an “urbanizacion”. It is proper farm house parts of which date back to the 17th century. At the centre of a large, working farm producing Avocados and Mangos. There are no bars, restaurants or shops within walking distance so a car is essential. It is a “home from home” in rural Andalucia, full of interesting and original furniture, art and artefacts collected by the Spanish and English owners. A romantic hide away yet only minutes away from the beaches.

We are regularly asked if topless or nude sunbathing is possible. The gardens around the pool are enclosed and not overlooked so the choice is yours.

I can certainly recommend this farmhouse as a wonderful place to stay, the owners are very helpful. With only a short drive to the beaches you have the best of both worlds - the rural and the coastal. There is a minimum charge of 2 people throughout the year.

Babies in arms requiring a cot are not charged for.

Children are charged at half the adult price.

A 25% deposit is required at confirmation of booking. Cheque in Sterling and the balance paid on arrival in Euros at the rate of E 1.40 = 1 pound.

Bed linen and towels are replaced weekly and the house cleaned before each arrival but there is no maid service during your stay so keeping the actual house clean and tidy is your responsibility. The extensive gardens are watered and attended to daily and the pool cleaned and maintained for your exclusive use, however we do keep a very low profile and the privacy of guests is always fully respected.

Beach towels are not provided.

All breakages must be paid for.

Have stayed at Lagar numerous times since 2000 and have become addicted to its charms. At anytime of the year, you will find something to delight your senses and lift your spirits. Superb location, excellent facilities and the most amazing sub-tropical gardens. Ideal base for either relaxing or exploring the Axarquia and beyond. Roger & Pepe are the perfect hosts. Pictures don't do it justice - you have to visit to fully appreciate its character and appeal.

Cette magnifique ancienne maison de campagne andalouse de tres bon gout a un charme fou ! avec ce jardin exotique a couper le souffle, ses palmiers, bananiers, cactus enormes, eucalyptus et ses fabuleuses fleurs tropicales c'est vraiment un spectacle pour les yeux ! sans oublier la piscine. Nous avons eu des vacances vraiment tres agreables et surprenantes dans ce si beau coin d'Andalousie ! We are a family of four who stay regularly at Lagar de Ventura because it suits our holiday requirements perfectly. A beautiful old farmhouse that feels like home, set in a lush, tropical garden that would not be out of place in the Seychelles. Rustic luxury but not pretentious or pseudo in any way. We have stayed at the farmhouse each year for the last seven years. Why do we keep going back? It is a really relaxing holiday and the farmhouse feels like home from home, so as soon as you arrive you feel you can just switch off. The owners are very welcoming and helpful but at the same time discreet so you have your privacy.We are going again 2008.

We have been twice now and have booked again. The accomodation is second to none. The peace and quiet enables you to chill out. Roger and Pepe who live next door make you feel so welcome almost like part of the family. Roger is a mine of information on the local area and beyond and Torre Del Mar is a most pleasant town that hasn't succumbed to the British Breakfast yet. A wonderful place for a main hoilday or like us for a week to recharge the batteries. Highly recommended

I have stayed at lagar de Ventura so many times I ve lost actual count,I have to return each year because for me its a little piece of paradise and if I want to leave and explore ,this part of Spain is so beautiful.I thoroughly reccomend that you try a holiday here,but I warn you, you might just have to keep coming back again and again.
