| Description |
Casa Pequeña is in the town of Albuñol among the original white houses, high upon the hill and is typical of the Andalucian casita design. The cottage has been recently rewired and updated to include modern kitchen facilities and new furniture. It has been decorated and furnished in the local style and retains a traditional Spanish feel.
Albuñol is in Granada Province, close to the border with Almería. It is only 6km from the sea and nestles in the foothills of the Sierra de la Contraviesa mountains. It is an excellent base to explore this area of beautiful scenery and Moorish antiquities.
The cottage is in the old quarter close to the top of the hill, overlooking the town. It is built of stone and has tiled floors throughout. Stone steps and low doorways add to the character.
The wooden front door opens on to the dining room, with a large wooden table and ample seating. There is a mini hi-fi with CD/cassette/tuner. To the left is the bedroom, with a double bed, wardrobe, bedside drawers and lights. On the right are stairs up to the lounge, a lovely light and airy room with a double aspect. There is a double sofa bed, chairs and two stools by one of the windows to sit and view the town. There is a DVD player and terrestrial Spanish TV.
Downstairs, there is a small but well equipped kitchen with a fridge, four ring ceramic hob, full size oven, fan extractor and all the crockery, utensils and cutlery that you would need. There is also a Spanish style bathroom with a basin, shower, bidet and toilet together with a lighted mirror cabinet, shaver point and extractor. There are electric radiators for visits in the colder months. |

| Further Information |
Albuñol is set between the Phoenician settlements of Adra and Alumeñcar. It is only 5 mins drive from the coastal town of La Rabita on the Costa Tropical. Neolithic burial remains have been found just outside the town, in the 'Cave of Bats' but it was the Moors who brought the town to prominence and it was the castle at La Rabita that defended it. Nowadays it is a bustling, rural town of some 5000 inhabitants and all the shops and services you would need.
This is a largely agrarian area, with the greenhouses and fields supplying the supermarkets of Europe and sheep and goats grazing the hills. The most common crops are tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, beans and on the hills are almonds and of course, vines. There is a market underneath the town hall where the local produce is sold, also chorizo, jamon and a good fish stall.
Fresh food is in abundance and only a few minutes walk away from the cottage and the cooker! If you prefer not to cook, there are numerous bars serving tapas and some that serve a full meal. There are also restaurants and bars at La Rabita only 5 minutes drive away. |

| Facilities |
| | | Outdoors | Outside, there is a concreted area to sit and enjoy the sun or shelter under the vine in the shade. The cottage is in a residential area, where there are no cars, as the lanes are too narrow. It is part of a group of four, where you will be among the friendly Spanish families who live there. Free parking is available nearby; access to the cottage is by a steep, winding path and so regrettably this accommodation is not suitable for people with mobility difficulties or young children. | | | | Things to do | WARNING! If you want English speaking waiters, pubs and discos - this accommodation is not for you!!!!!!
For further information on the surrounding area follow the link above to our website www.casapequena.co.uk | | | | Nearest Airport | It is less than an hours drive to Almería airport, whilst Granada can be reached in 1½ hours and Malaga in just over 2. |
